Garage Flooring Installation Guide
Hiring a professional to install your garage floor is an extra cost that most homeowners do not wish to incur, so they direct their search toward a DIY product instead to save on installation costs. Many garage flooring options at Perfect Surfaces are DIY-friendly and quite easy to install. Depending on your garage flooring choice, you may be able to loose-lay the flooring, whereas other options may require adhesives, such as GatorTAPE or TruGLU, to affix the flooring to the subfloor.
In this guide, we’ll explain the basic steps involved in installing garage tiles, mats, and rolls. For a more detailed installation guide, contact the flooring experts at Perfect Surfaces.
How to Install Garage Tiles
SnapGRID® STONE garage puzzle tiles are incredibly easy to install since their interlocking system allows them to be loosely laid together over concrete, plywood, or compacted dirt subfloor. Simply measure the room by laying the tiles out, leaving equal space on all sides. We recommend leaving the tiles on the subfloor to acclimate for 48 hours before beginning installation. If the floors require tolerance to heavier loads, SnapGRID® STONE tiles can be easily taped or glued in place with gatorTAPE or TruGLU to prevent shifting underfoot. If heavier loads are not anticipated, simply loose-lay SnapGRID® STONE garage tiles for a reliable, quick, and easy installation. Another excellent garage tile flooring is the SnapGRID® LX2 drainage tile. With an interlocking hook and loop system, LX2 tiles are easy enough for even the most novice DIYer- the hook fits in the loop, locking the tiles together! For simplicity’s sake, it is recommended that the loop edge of each tile is facing in the same direction during installation. SnapGRID® LX2 interlocking garage tiles are a DIY-friendly, cost-effective garage flooring option since they do not need to be taped or glued down. How to Install Garage Rolls
GorillaCOR® rollout garage flooring is an economical solution for protecting any existing garage floor. GorillaCOR® rolled garage flooring is low maintenance, slip-resistant, and a cost-effective commercial-grade flooring option for your garage. To install polyvinyl COR garage rolls, first, ensure your subfloor is flat and smooth. Once GorillaCOR® rolls have been unrolled and left to acclimate for 72 hours, they can be taped or glued down for semi-permanent flooring.
Begin installing by overlapping seams and using double-sided GatorTAPE to hold the seams in place. Apply GorillaCOR® seam sealant tape on all overlapping seams for a truly impermeable surface. Once GorillaCOR® is successfully installed, it can be easily cleaned with soap and water using a broom or a sponge. Avoid leaving harsh chemicals on GorillaCOR® flooring for prolonged periods, wiping clean following any spills to extend the lifespan of the flooring.
